This is silly and probably unfair to the people of Hebden Bridge, but the first thing I always associate with the name of that town is this absolute classic, photographed at a mini-library in a nearby village (photo not my own):

Just now I was talking to someone about Rosemary Sutcliff, author of The Eagle of the Ninth and other works, and when I searched her (to verify something I'd said off the top of my head) I discovered she was, coincidentally, born 14 December 1920

Today would have been her 105th birthday!
