Mother-in-law did a little European road trip, so we got to directly compare Belgian and Swiss chocolates. Verdict is in and unanimous: Belgium should stick to waffles!

We played Beyond the Sun, which is a favourite of mine. This was a really weird session, with loads of automation and no blue technologies. By the end of the game, which took a fair bit longer than normal, all players had maxed out their automation tracks.

Alexandros is a fantastic old-school game. All players decide how Alexander moves around the region, dividing it into regions as he moves. And then we fight for control of those regions.

One of the players asked to buy my copy when we finished!

I taught The King is Dead to two new players yesterday. Fun all around - the French invaded!

I've so much respect for how much this game does with so few rules.

C'mon - just one more rating to get ranked on BGG!

A preview of one of my upcoming games (codesigned with @chrisbacke.bsky.social and published by idVenture). In Tiberpunk, be a hacker, or a bounty hunter, or a revolutionary; stay hidden from the law, or burn bright! All in about an hour!

An oldie but a goodie - had a blast playing the imaginatively named Trains.

My little collection of moments when designers break the fourth-wall to tell specific players to stop being annoying.

Two mysterious games I forgot the names of! A small game, a bit like Beasty Bar over 3 lanes, an engine builder that feels like Ancient Knowledge, and then Archeos Society.

Tag Team was a blast to play. It's an auto-battler, with players choosing the order of their decks.

A Wild Venture looked like a simple card game, but had a lot going on under the hood. You build engines with your cards, but they decay quite quickly, creating a very interesting cadence.

Rosenberg's new game, Click a Tree. I like Rosenberg puzzles and this one offers some new twists on his style.

Wondrous Creatures. An incredible production, with very fancy components. The game is a fun tableau builder, but I wish the interaction with the map was a bit more interesting.

Verdant Arizona - my game! Released a new weeks ago in a mint tin. From @galens-games.bsky.social

Innovation. I love love Innovation and play it any chance I get. This time I lost 6-0. Still great!

Pueblo and Big Shot. Both older games with beautiful new versions from Playte. Both fun, thinky, and tight.

Leaders - a very cool abstract game, where you draft characters and fight on a super tight grid.

Some Asterix game that was surprisingly fun. Like fighting for bases in Smash Up, but with a bit more focus in the design.

Essen is over. Here are some of the games I played.

Altay, twice at 2 and 3 players. There is so much that I like about this - deck-building, 4x, civ-building, rules light. But it feels like it's missing "something". It's super swingy.
