Why are people getting excited about the “Nobels”? Everyone knows that the only REAL one is the Sveriges @riksbank.se Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. The others are just self-aggrandising PR set up by Nobel himself.

Can someone explain to me the fear about falling human reproduction rates, ie aside the impact on pension systems etc? Global population has roughly doubled just since i was born, so all the chatter — and not just from Musk and the like — just seems bizarre to me. Genuinely curious.

I just remembered that a few years BC (Before Children) I subscribed to Foreign Affairs and had time to actually read it cover to cover. Today that feels like a fantastical feverish dream, like it wasn’t even real.
