Trying to learn: Drawing, Japanese
Preparing a little chiptune cover of a song that is stuck in my head since its release!
The song fits the MegaDrive/Genesis soundfont so well!

What to do when you struggle in #GettingOverIt? Watch a motivation pup talk from #FuwaMoco and smile again :D

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 22

Submission to the friendly contest I'm taking part of. The theme was "Guitar, Mermaid, Peafowl, Sombrero"

I can really see improvements in the lineart (thanks #DrawABox), color wise it's still very rough.

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 21.5

Draw another weapon with the first one. It was fun. Still a beginner, still learning, but having fun is MASSIVE

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 21

I really wanted to draw yesterday evening. So right before bed, I took my drawing tablet and drew a little something. A magic staff apparently.

I'm really happy because it came pretty naturally, with no references. But I'm sure this shape exists somewhere :D

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 20

Second batch of exercise from #DrawABox. Ellipses are freaking hard for a beginner like me! But once again, I could feel the improvement during the exercise.

It feels good. I'm excited to see the improvement once I redo these later on.

Doing my #DrawABox homework tonight!
With my quaterly rewatch of Kobayashi-chan chi no dragon maid in the background

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 19

Submission to the friendly contest I'm taking part of. I had to merge a Dik-Dik and a Caracal.

I rushed a lot because of the deadline, plus, I never drew any animal or fur before.

I don't like this drawing at all. But it motivates me to get better. That's cool.

Working on a prototype in #Godot. Got this basic vision system working, I'm a happy Rob!
(Don't pay attention to the tile map issues plz)

Forgot to post my progress yesterday! #LearningToDraw
Lineart is done, and I started some basic coloring.

I can already tell it's gonna look a bit strange, but it's my first time drawing animals. And I'm already terrified about drawing the hair

#LearningToDraw WIP for the contest I usually do with friends.
The goal is to merge two animals, a dik-dik and a caracal. So I'm trying to sketch a dik-dik with caracal ears

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 18

Submission to the friendly contest I'm taking part of. The random words were "Watermelon, Canyon, Caterpillar"

For the first time, I'm proud of the idea. The drawing itself is still very shaky, but I can still see the progress.

Just found my YT music rewind thingy. Despite being a metalhead, as a grown up man, I'm apparently addicted to the cutesy japanese songs of @nanahira.jp

And I love it.

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 17

First batch of exercise from #DrawABox. It was pretty draining, but also very interesting to experience. I could see myself improving during the exercise, proving once again that practice is key.

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 16

Submission to the friendly contest I'm taking part of. The random words were "Monkey, Bat, Temple"

Done in an evening, tried out #ClipStudioPaint brushes, really fun as a beginner

To respect #DrawABox 50% rule, no references except for the monkey's shape

I also tried to replicate a real workflow: rough sketch, line art, flat colors and finally shading. It's funny how my first sketch was too thin, but my final line art was too wide.

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 15

This took a couple of days: another reproduction where I learned SO MUCH. I also moved from Photoshop to Clip Studio Paint, which is more intuitive for someone like me with no experiences, and also not subscription based.

I'm really proud of this one.

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 14

Same friendly contest as ep. 13. This time it was "Hammer Shark, Armor, Algae". I did this 30min before the deadline. I can clearly see characteristics of the previous Clefairy drawing in here. I've learned, and I'm using those new skills on something different.

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 13

November 11th 2024, took a break because I started a new job. I participated in a little friendly art contest based on random words. "Starfish, Bulldozer, Space" gave this. I tried to stick as close as possible to NES limitations for that one (visuals and music)

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 12

All right. Now let's get REALLy serious. September 13th 2024. This took a LONG time compared to my previous attemps, but DANG it looks good.
It's a fat Clefairy, and the colors aren't right, but it's a massive motivation boost.

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 11

Apparently, perspective is important. So on September 13th 2024, I studied basic perspective. Doesn't look good, but at least I understood how it works. And that what mattered.

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 10

There we go. September 9th 2024, I took my drawing tablet out of its dusty coffin, and plugged it in once again!
Definitely took more time and care on this one. It has some old school flash game vibes.

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 6 to 9 (nice)

End of 2022, I took a couple of lessons from an friend, that asked me to draw as much as possible. I did it for a couple of days, before two years of hiatus. I'm almost proud at some of those. Next episode is my ongoing attempt at learning how to draw.

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 05

January 25th, 2022. The end of my third serious attempt at drawing. I hated this one from the bottom of my heart. Nothing went as I expected, and I was super disappointed. So I gave up for a couple of months

Rob Koda's #LearningToDraw, ep. 04

January 11th, 2022. I traced this Super Meat Boy, and it was pretty instructive. But this was more about how to use Photoshop than actually drawing. But as the result looked decent, it helped me going for a bit. A bit means one more drawing.
