I’m Gen X and appreciate what you’re saying, so consider it this way: Dropping by someone’s desk and saying “Got a second to talk about XYZ?” gives them a chance to say they’re free in 20min and finish what they’re doing instead of breaking flow and being less efficient.

They hear a lot about obvious unethical uses, so I’d also define when efficiency assistance can be ethical. For example, proofing format of 100 citations, extracting and sorting data from a large qualitative survey (like an advanced word search), finding redundancy or duplicate sentences, etc.
