Mike Lawler is supposed to be one of the most "moderate" members of the House GOP. There are no moderate Republicans in Congress anymore. Sadists, cowards, and/or enablers - all of them.
Here's that Lawler clip: defending Trump's roundups, he asks County Legislator Jose Alvarado from Yonkers about his citizenship. Audible gasps from the other legislators. This is horrifying.

this is absolutely right, it's a gleeful dehumanization that is both demonic and strategic
I think most people are intuitively aware of this but something like the official White House account posting an “ASMR” video of shackled immigrants is not just cruel for its own sake, it’s intentional envelope-pushing to ramp up to desensitization over inhumane detention, camps, and deaths
