Don’t know about that… our current AI barons seem pretty stingy.

Everything about this timeline confirms to me that if humans invent time travel some time in the future, it’s not the good guys.

Wait, she's left-handed? That explains EVERYTHING!

The Chinese military is literally run by Communists. I guess they're the good, anti-woke kind, not the kind they accuse anyone to the left of Mitt Romney as being?

No matter what she thinks or says, it's against the law for emergency rooms to deny treatment to anyone who shows up.

After months of relative calm, my phone is suddenly blowing up again with sweaty, desperate, alarming texts claiming to be from Dem-aligned groups. THIS IS NOT OK. I get the party needs money, but selling my info to every campaign opens the door for scammers and spammers. Opt-in only, please!!!!

Their theory of the case is that bringing Marvel readers to the platform exposes them to all the great indy stuff that's available digitally, that they might not see in their local comics shop. Curious to know if that holds up.

Oooh, wait, I know this one! Is it... the Hippocratic Oath doesn't say anything about checking the patient's citizenship? Or that Emergency Rooms are required by federal law to treat anyone who shows up?

Predictions seem to have nailed the downsides (deepfakes, porn, propaganda, economic displacement, etc) pretty well, but somehow missed how none of the promised benefits have shown up.

I think so. There was a blind spot on the replay and I think the other camera covers that angle. The horn sounded, the players celebrated, the goalie looked behind him, and everyone in our section thought the game was over.

We were sitting right on top of the goal. That puck absolutely went in, but the camera that should have confirmed it was damaged earlier in the game.

No period of time is perfect - my remark about the "occasional genocides" was a nod to that. However there was remarkable stability and economic progress in the US, most of Europe, China, India, NE and SE Asia - home to about 80% of the world's pop. Not bad, all considered.

From '89 when the Cold War ended and walls came down, until 9/11, feels like objectively a high point for human civilization (give or take the odd genocide here and there...). The 21st century is probably out of warranty by now, but if not, we should send the whole thing back.

Smart license! Phantom 2040 was low key one of the coolest animated shows of the 90s. Lots of world building to work with
