It’s a trading bloc, expect they’d prefer to have one of the world’s largest economies inside that to enhance the negotiating position/external power of the bloc as a whole.

Probably, but also think it shouldn’t be underestimated quite how useful it is to have lots of these people far away at a time when you’re trying to scale up operations.
