We live in Chicago, USA. Maybe go north & west until we can't any more, then head south until nothing but water. That should take 5 years or so!! Not a real RTW...but no flights. We'll see. The plan is: time in a city (love cities), ride, time in the mountains/beach/town (love the country), repeat.

We got good at getting rid of stuff! :D Started with 4 pair of underwear, socks, shirts, but discovered most dry overnight—only need 1 or 2. And there were no tablets or phones+charges then. Only a tiny Sony shortwave.

I hope we can get started about the same time as you...but one bike for us.

My wife and I rode bicycles RTW from 1989 to 1991. Each bike had 4 panniers, a handlebar bag, and rear rack held sleeping bags and a tent. By month 6 we each had 2 largely empty bags. 2-up, open-ended RTW retirement on 1 motorcycle is different. 2 people + 0.5 the carrying capacity=challenge.
