This Nobel honors the architects of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Their work on tunable porosity is highly relevant for our moment: MOFs can trap carbon, purify water, and store clean fuels. Tools like these will help shape how humanity manages Earth system stress.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio insisted “no one has died” as a result of U.S. foreign aid cuts. In Myanmar, the grieving father of a 2-year-old boy who died after their food rations were cut calls such claims a lie.

Start charging AI companies, in full, for the energy they use and the pollution they cause, and they’ll quickly find a way to be more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

And demonstrably bad messaging from the science-policy community that focused so much on fossil fuel emissions for over three decades.

We all know this tipping point threshold will be passed “soon”, the only question is when. I have an increasingly strong opinion that casting nearly certain events as “possible” is working against the ecological cause in general.

Ukraine is going to win this war. The only question is what will be the fate of the Kremlin. I have been to Russia over a dozen times and have great affection for the Russian people, who have been badly served by a criminal presidency.

Run government “like a business” they said: services halted, 750k workers unpaid, museums closed, and the president using the shutdown to ideologically punish citizens that didn’t vote for him.

No real business would last a week operating this way.
