Is the demo meant to look like this? (Chrome 141.0.122)

I was back home at my parents' place recently and, thinking of your interests, took a photo of my old bookshelf there, a snapshot in time from about 1990...

It's probably all in encrypted local cache files and in the cloud. It occurs to me that local link generation for self consumption is a fabulous use for tailscale.

Today I made the first lovage soup of the season. And used up some chicken stock bones that had been sitting in the freezer for ages. Deeply satisfying indeed.

Fun prompt. It does make it clear that ChatGPT sees an extremely weirdly distorted view of the world. :)

So this is essentially what's going to happen, right? (apologies for the AI-generated image)

Now it's pretty darn good! Still wouldn't use it, but it's really getting there.

Previous attempt was laughable, unsurprisingly:

OK, it's now rolled out for me. Total game changer. My prompt was this (this was from an old attempt at making a birthday card a while back):

Example error message from just now:

Hmm, has this rolled out everywhere? Or is there something I have to do to get access to it (other than just a Plus subs)? 'Cos I get this response when I try something similar:

If you see this, quote post with a beach photo from your gallery if you have one.

I wonder which ChatGPT content policy I might be breaching. The guardrails are seriously getting in the way here!

Maybe this has something to do with it. Sigh.

Another thought (they'll continue to come as my subconscious absorbs what I've learned about Zig so far). Here's a fn from the std library:

Not too hard in fact, it turns out:

How hard can it be to iterate through a map?

foo?

What exactly does "pub var" in a struct mean, if it doesn't declare a field? In fact what does "pub" itself mean? The Zig docs don't seem to talk about it explicitly at all.
January 19, 2025 at 7:56 PM
Interesting wrinkle around defaultValue here. I guess it's not much different from what Go's reflect package does under the hood. And at least StructField.type is first class, which is pretty cool.
January 19, 2025 at 7:34 PM
This is not a great start.

I definitely need to play with Zig now to decide how I feel about it.
I understand Mitchell Hashimoto's verdict of "it's funner than Rust" somewhat now, and I suspect I'll agree (not a high bar!).
I wonder how big those binaries will end up.

YACC definitely has changed a lot since the last time I used it (10 ed unix derivative). Or maybe `.y` doesn't imply YACC these days?

I'm wondering what T is here:
