This week’s “Random Red” is an old favourite. 1000 Stories Bourbon Barrel Aged Zinfandel. Quite honestly one of the best red wines you can buy at the moment.

Oh WOW! This Pentuma Primitivo from Italy is sensational. Quite strong at 15% but very fruity and spicy.
Got this one from Virgin Wines and would definitely choose it again.

A new Zinfandel for us - but it’s Old Vine and un surprisingly is very good.
Usual deep fruit and a bit of spice.

The French wine is bright and has subtle hints of chocolate and cinnamon (which often makes wine heavier).
Not a massive fan of French wine but this is a solid 7/10.

Earthy, even slightly musty. But it has a great flavour.

This CARPINETO Dogajolo from Tuscany’s Chianti region has the taste you would expect from a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet and other varieties.
It’s quite brutal and takes few sips to mellow.
Got Christmas vibes from the label and it was only £8 so bloody good value.

So we went for a classic. I guess that means it’s not really random. But it’s one of the best Zinfandels you can buy.
