Don't search for me
Sure my refusal to support GenAI might seem pointless, I am one person after all

But if there's enough collective action, then small choices like mine add up

I mean, look at Target in the states, the yearlong boycott has the execs squirming
December 23, 2025 at 6:47 AM
Ok, what's your definition of tangible

What constitutes a tangible result to you
December 23, 2025 at 5:27 AM
If you can't see an immediate return on time spent you just give up?

That feels like a hollow way of living
December 23, 2025 at 5:14 AM
So what, you don't stand for anything?

As long as "number go up" that's all that matters?

Doesn't feel like a pragmatist, just someone who really needs to tell people they're dumb for hoping and working for something they find important
December 23, 2025 at 5:14 AM
Even if I'm not engaging with media that uses AI, I'm at least financially supporting the things I DO care about

That's not a big difference, but at least I'm actually doing something
December 23, 2025 at 4:33 AM
The tangible effect is me feeling satisfied that I'm not supporting something that I deem unethical

Also if you pirate 95% of the media you see then what horse do you have in this race? You're not giving money to these companies regardless of if they're using stolen data so why do you care
December 23, 2025 at 4:32 AM
I'm not "stamping my feet and getting angry", I'm standing by my convictions

None of these creative products that use AI are a necessary thing to own. I'm just voting with my wallet

And as far as I'm concerned, that twofold fight has one root cause
December 23, 2025 at 4:14 AM
At the end of the day, I refuse to support the technology and firmly believe human society and culture will be better off if we as a people firmly reject GenAI in its current unregulated, unethical form
December 23, 2025 at 4:03 AM
I personally don't care HOW much they cost to train, because they never paid for licensing rights to use that material

And when you use the AI it gives the investors use numbers which justify them pouring more money into the tech, further inflating the bubble
December 23, 2025 at 4:02 AM
So the point I'm trying to make is that GenAI CANNOT exist legally nor ethically

It's a technology created through theft, that results in people losing their jobs, and doesn't actually speed up the process

All the games that used AI could have easily just *not* and they would have been fine
December 23, 2025 at 4:01 AM
This "hammer" can be remade ethically

They'd need to compensate all the people they train the data on, but its possible

As it stands now, if the tool was made unethically, why should I reward its creation?
December 23, 2025 at 2:18 AM
The whole "tool" argument also feels a bit wishy-washy

It removes any culpability from the thing or its creator
December 23, 2025 at 2:02 AM
Don't really care how much of a masterpiece something is if it's an ethical problem

Someone's going to have to be an example so studios stop using it, and if that's sandfall then so be it
December 23, 2025 at 2:02 AM
Yeah, idk, GenAI is bad for the environment and the average working person

I see no problem with shaming the corporate slop tech that's being forced into everything and if beloved studios get caught in the cross-fire they should have read the room 🤷

Here's a quote from the interview where he says that it's not helping speed things up

bsky.app/profile/jaso...

And regardless, if they're using GenAI to do the concept art, then the work is poisoned from the outset
We need to establish a zero tolerance stance on GenAI, if they get burned, oh well
If I had known the two paragraphs about genAI in my article today would be so controversial, I would have expanded them a bit! Here's a rough transcript of the relevant portion of my interview with Swen Vincke, so everyone has all the context. (Full article here: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...)

Didn't the CEO of Larian say that AI didn't even help speed up their production and he was just making his team use it because he had fomo?
December 22, 2025 at 11:11 PM
That's the idea!
December 22, 2025 at 4:12 AM
Reject AI

Play indie games
