Painting looks to be so cheatable with washes. Just base coat that black, white layer on top, darker wash, highlight some yellow and you got your Cerberus.

Just the 3D polygon ship combat with clipart versions of snub fighters in mass fleet battles as one of my first CD-ROMs was game changing for me. Just looked up a clip and the voice over gives me chills.
