When I come up with characters for DnD (or any ttrpg) I have to accept they could die at a moment's notice. Then again, I'll spend hours writing a short story for them anyway.

Might have to delete and rewrite four chapters to make the story flow better. RIP Breaking out of Illusion Jail and doing battle with a magic supercop.

Writing a cross genre book so whoever has to put it on the shelf has to put it perfectly in the middle of the sci-fi/fantasy section.

Thinking of turning my exposition into 'lore drops' that the reader can look up in the back of the book in the reader's own time.
