Current lawyer, former scientist. Mostly college football (Ski-U-Mah! EMAW!!) and kdrama. Sometimes I write fiction. Not a serious person.
I was outside for 2 minutes and froze my face!

Finally decided to give #cdrama a try. I’m watching #RipeTown from 2023, and it’s fantastic; much better than I expected it to be.

I watched way more #kdrama in 2025 than I originally thought! (Green circles are completed drama; red lines are dropped).

The return of the fail whale?!
January 16, 2026 at 3:40 PM
LOL no. Amish Tripathi’s stuff is terrible and can we please just not?

Also, what‘s going on here?

Day 31: Your favourite drama of 2025. #EYDC2025 If I had to pick just one #kdrama, let it be the one that gave me a bit of everything: humor, intrigue, legal wrangling, romance, tears, and a great ending: #TheTaleofLadyOk. Take a bow, fusion sageuk of my dreams.

IYKYK.

Also a shoutout to #TheRoyals on Netflix. While I mostly hated the show and thought the costuming was gaudy and uninspired, the coronation scene was fantastic. If only the rest of the show’s aesthetic had been half as good.

Day 24: Favourite costumes of 2025. #EYDC2025 It’s hard to look away from sageuk when talking about kdrama costumes IMO. I loved all the fabulous robes and elaborate head gear in #TheQueenWhoCrowns and also appreciated the transition from the late Goryeo to the early Joseon period via the costuming.

Day 22: A drama that deserves the hype. #EYDC2025 This was not a hyped #kdrama when it first started, but once it took off, there was no stopping #LoveScout, and for once, the word-of-mouth hype for a romantic drama actually felt deserved.

#EYDC2025 I mean, it’s not everyday that Kang Tae-oh goes to a princess tea party.

Yeah, the gratuitous personal violence is definitely off-putting, but I think maybe accurate in context.

I loved the show so much though. Tight storytelling, good ol’ fashioned police work, a gritty setting, and a memorable main character. Also I cried so much during this scene in S2.

Day 18: Your most-watched genre of 2025. #EYDC2025 To the surprise of exactly nobody, my most watched genre this year was legal/police procedurals. Standouts include #LawandtheCity for #kdrama and #PaatalLok from India.
December 18, 2025 at 6:49 PM
Honorable mention: Satoh Takeru as the ML in the #jdrama version of #MarryMyHusband. He took a character who is mostly a blank slate for the FL to write her desires on to and turned him into a real person, no small task, IMO. It doesn’t hurt that he’s so easy on the eyes either. 💕

Day 17: Best actor of 2025. #EYDC2025 For me, there is only one right answer for #kdrama: Ryu Seung-ryong as the titular character in #TheDreamLifeofMrKim. RSY has always been a fantastic actor, but as Kim Nak-su, he so embodied that role that I frequently forgot he was acting. ALL THE AWARDS.
December 17, 2025 at 5:32 PM
Day 16: Best actress of 2025. #EYDC2025 My #kdrama year has been bookended by #TheTaleofLadyOk and #NiceToNotMeetYou, so my choice here is obvious: Lim Ji-yeon. I’m glad I got to see her do great work this year.
December 16, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Day 15: Favourite drama poster of 2025. #EYDC2025 The sageuk #TheQueenWhoCrowns has gorgeous posters that highlight the sumptuous costuming and set decoration in the drama, but also foreshadow the power struggle and the central character’s determined personality.
December 15, 2025 at 4:28 PM
I did not sign up for this.
December 13, 2025 at 4:51 PM
Day 13: A drama you found boring. #EYDC2025 Conceptually, #OurMovie checked all my #kdrama boxes. A mature romance? Namkoong Min? Jeon Yeo-Been? Sign me up! Unfortunately, the pacing was awful, the narrative never took off, and by Ep 4, I was so bored I put this on hold and never went back to it.
December 13, 2025 at 4:03 PM
Also, Kim Ji-hoon is stupid levels of hot and charming as the 2ML in this drama.
December 13, 2025 at 3:48 AM
In which Lee Jung-jae is a Twins fan (of the KBO, that is).
December 13, 2025 at 3:39 AM
From awkward work partners to close friends, it’s the Chaudhary-Ansari dynamic that makes up the emotional core of the entire show, and especially in Season 2.

I cannot say enough that everyone should watch this show, even if Indian content and/or cop shows are not your thing.
December 12, 2025 at 4:38 PM
Day 12: A platonic relationship you loved. #EYDC2025 A shoutout to #PaatalLok, an excellent Hindi police procedural on Amazon Prime. The platonic relationship b/w Inspector Chaudhary (Jaideep Ahlawat) and newbie Ansari (Ishwak Singh) is easily the best I’ve seen all year.
December 12, 2025 at 4:36 PM
Day 11: A drama that taught you something new. #EYDC2025 I watched the Tamil series #Suzhal and I learned many cultural things from the show I didn’t know despite being Tamil myself. In particular, I had never heard of the Mayana Kollai festival at the center of the series and it was fascinating!
