Watching the Cubs/Brewers game, my friend Sheryl is an ardent fan and we were gabbing on the phone. So, okay.

I’m more of a Seattleite-in-exile but I’ll watch a bit. This is a do-or-die game and Sheryl had to step away, so I’ll hold vigil for her for a bit.

Tea Towel Hems

Bought some tea towels for gifts, looking for tutorials for adding colorful hanging cuffs after hemming. I lean toward Method 1, mitred corners. Will decide once the towels arrive in case the selvage edges are good quality.

Miss Catty Lavelle is not a lap cat.

She’s a sidecat.

Had to scootch over to give her room; she’s now contentedly washing herself and being petted.

Life is good.

A smol brown tabby sits next to her primary hoomin in an armchair. She tolerates being held like a li’l babby, but exits the area with the quickness if she’s placed on a lap or chest.

She prefers lying on the feets of her hoomins when in bed. This is some kind of territorial thing.

I was going to NOT get sucked into Amazon’s Prime Days, but stuff I’ve been watching for months on sale.

Have all this free time for sewing but carpal tunnel tinglies triggered by handling fabric. Will try it with quilting gloves next.

A small Oliso project steam iron with aqua ergonomic angle and aqua silicone iron rest/storage hanger rests on the box it came in.

All the cool quilters on YouTube have the big and small Oliso irons. I’m uncool and don’t post videos so I have a double-ended Panasonic steam iron.

Another achievement unlocked: got my “lightweight” AFO orthosis to fit a pair of slip-on Merrill walking shoes with good tread. Going for a walk this afternoon to break them in and get used to them, avoiding blisters and abrasions.

Achievement unlocked: went downstairs to start a load of laundry, had been avoiding as there’s one handrail. Finally felt confident descending with cane braced to the right, rail gripped with (weaker) left hand.

Trained at PT months ago but chickened out before.

Carpeted steps to finished basement with handrail on left side only. Bikes and Wahoo bike trainers are visible.

A medical shower bench and stool are visible and will be donated to the village “nurse’s lending closet.” They worked OKAY but were too long (bench) or too narrow front to back (stool) for safe entry to tub in my small upstairs bathroom.

When we dropped them off, they had two huge bags plus a carryon, and a folding walker added at the last minute.

They’ll be exhausted, cranky, worried about missing out on stuff tomorrow because they’ll be tired, and so on.

Next time, I hope they find an itinerary with nonstop flights to & from.

When I lived in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, the yearly street festival featured a goofy parade (Fremont was an artists’ enclave). The highlight of the event was naked people on bikes. NO tan lines were evident.

Ordered 2 different flexible AFO braces from Amazon. My custom brace is heavy, too bulky for most shoes except New Balance (boo). I was desperate to wear my Cadense shoes, and will need to wear winter boots too.

Size M was too small for my chunky calf, otherwise fit into my Cadense shoe. Will return.

A plastic Ankle Foot Orthosis is light, flexible, supports the ankle with a figure 8 shape but the strap for the upper calf is too short.

Size M on this one came with a good “how to use” guide. Both braces had a “sole strap” for wearing brace “barefoot” and similar figure-8 plastic support behind the ankle and up the calf.

The calf strap was long enough on this one to wrap around my chunky calf…

KEEPER. The second AFO fits my calf, fits my Cadense shoe, provides support for my ankle and drop-foot issue, AND I even like the color.

Yes, that’s a Raiders of the Lost Ark reference.
