I'll see your broccoli, and raise you raw celery.

Love those fibrous little fuckers.

Dip them in a good olive oil with a bit of salt... <chef's kiss>.

Underrated vegetable, completely unfathomable to child me.

Also: Willing to bet 50 bucks that those radio buttons are in no way semantically associated with their misplaced labels.

They just have that "just a random <span>" vibe to them...

But also those radio buttons are fucked up.

Indeed. Even at the cost of making identification less reliable.

But they don't seem particularly concerned with the cost of *any* of these things.
November 6, 2025 at 10:36 PM
...And if they are, won't that identifier be obviously *less* useful, if what it says doesn't seem to match what you see?

Whereas, if it said non-binary or something, and that seems to match the person in front of you, it's actually *more* useful.

Yeah I think this is actually what I want too: pure css based "overflow query" that I can use to e.g. show/hide stuff and even modify the container's contents (and yes, there's the infinite loop problem again)

Update: it has come to my attention that Heathrow T5 no longer has a Nando's! 😩

Oh four thirty
Why am I here?
Too early for Nando's
Too late for a beer

Yeah, that was an impressively unimpressive interview. I'm not sure why I even expected any unique insights...

I'd say "lane" has, in practice, expanded from the original meaning into a generic term for something that something flows along.

Arguably, a lot of words we don't consider metaphorsv actually are, or at least originally were.
October 29, 2025 at 9:31 AM
Well, grid lanes is my favorite of the proposed names.

I'm just not convinced masonry is any worse of a name than oh so many others in css 😅
October 28, 2025 at 2:43 PM
Seems like an awful lot of work just to avoid calling it what everybody has always called it and always will call it (to the extent that we can't even discuss what to call it without calling it that).

imo "masonry" is no longer a metaphor but a well-established term for this type of thing.

Nokia 6310. I still like the design of this thing.
October 27, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Damn. I spent three hours trying to achieve this recently (with grid so I was on the right track), but couldn't figure out all the pieces.
