Pretending they can and making capital allocation decisions accordingly is a fool's game.

The UK's net zero policy should be built around the '3 Ns':

- Nuclear

- Natural Gas

- Nature

Due to their intermittency, they simply cannot do that at grid penetration levels above 40-50%.

(Particularly on this clouded isle, where a few weeks ago parts of Hampshire went 11 days with just 12 minutes of sunshine.)

As in Australia, the current approach in the UK is over-reliant on wind and solar.

These are incredible technologies that will be essential elements of the future energy mix.

But they need to be deployed smartly, as part of a holistic system that delivers power on-demand and at low cost.

The UK has the highest industrial energy prices in the world and our current direction of travel means they will get worse, for many of the same reasons that Chris raises in this documentary.

Mitigating climate change is a critical imperative. But we are getting it badly, badly wrong.

This isn't just about territorial expansion. That's part of it, but that is a very simplistic way of looking at what Russia is trying to achieve, which is a fundamental shift in the global power balance away from the West and its values.
