One year ago today, the Arakan Army killed at least 200 Rohingya civilians in Maungdaw as they tried to flee to Bangladesh.

Women, children, and the elderly were among the dead.

15 Rohingya fishermen from Dar Paing Sar Yar village in Buthidaung, were abducted by Arakan Army (AA) , while they were fishing ahead of Paung Daw Pyin village on May 6, 2025 . They have been detained in constabulary 7, also known as Maung Nu constabulary in Buthidaung.

On Saturday, Jan 4, 2025, Malaysian authorities turned away two boats carrying around 300 weak & hungry Rohingya. The boats arrived in Indonesia's Aceh on Sunday evening, Jan 5.

They had all escaped the ongoing genocide against them in Myanmar.

On Wednesday, January 8, the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes over Kyauk Ni Maw village in Ramree Township.

According to Radio Free Asia, 41 are reported dead and 52 injured, with the majority being Rohingya. Nearly 600 houses have been destroyed.
