The evidence is the bigotry and ignorance of some very prominent atheists. Bigotry and ignorance that is almost indistinguishable from religious bigotry and ignorance.

I put my faith in the same things.
But that doesn't mean that there aren't lots of atheists who are not smart.
The belief that one's opinions are driven purely by rationality is one that can lead you down some very stupid paths.
No-one's opinions are pure reason (although it is a good guide).

I think a lot of atheists aren't very bright and are easily lead. I dont see it as an extreme position.
