we all need to remember that ICE is not highway patrol. They do not have blanket authority to stop vehicles or command civilians out of cars. Immigration enforcement is civil law, and lethal force requires an immediate, unavoidable threat to life, not disobedience to an unlawful order….

Just to clarify what I’m saying, the assignment was literally to respond to a specific research article about gender typicality and peer perception in middle schoolers. That’s it. Nothing to do with Satan, politics, religion, transgender issues, or anything else people are projecting onto it.

she received a zero because she didn’t answer the question. so maybe at the very least, 3 points for name, date and citing her source? but that 0 is deserved. would be a great piece if the assignment was share your opinion or an op-ed.

i just don’t get why most people are out there blaming one party when we all know (hopefully) that the pandemic’s stimulus checks, UI and medicaid expansions during lockdown is the WHY prices are so high/inflation. Like, we knew that. So annoying.

Everyone agrees the health system is broken, but fixing it means taking on the people who profit off it (and that goes for pretty much all our systems, people profit off our basic needs).

So the ACA didn’t fail because it was supposed to be free. It became messy because it was a giant compromise layered onto the existing private insurance system & the simple campaign lines didn’t survive the reality of how the law actually worked. Since then, no one has come up with a better plan 🤷🏻♀️

When the ACA kicked in, a lot of pre-ACA junk plans got cancelled because they didn’t meet basic coverage standards and pushed people into new plans with different networks, and some lost their doctors. That was a real messaging failure, not a promise of “free insurance.”

The “free” part applied only to certain low-income groups through Medicaid expansion, not the entire population.

expand medicaid, create subsidized marketplaces, regulate insurers and stop exclusions for preexisting conditions
This was always a market-based insurance reform, not a government-run free system…
