Its not a gift. Hes 54. He didnt kill anybody (thankfully) and will be geriatric if he lives into his 70s in prison. Then, he'll be a destiute old man waiting to die.

Your current sacrifices are irrelevant to the ones your mom made before. People with privilaged childhoods arent garaunteed the same as adults. And when you make public comments, you should expect others to respond based on your statements. Thats how conversation works. Which is what a comment is.

You really want to paint yourself as average. You werent. Its fine you werent. But you had a privilaged childhood. Thats a good thing. People sacrificed so you could think your luxuries were normal.

It sounds to me like youre the one pedantic. The only thing youve refuted of the original post is that it was possible to rent a vhs and player. I can rent mazarati. Its possible. Most people dont. Most people didnt grow up in the 80s watching VHS and playing albums on hand held music players.

I was. VHS was the equivalent of 900 in the early 80s, like i said. I can get a decent desktop computer for that now, but many cant afford that today. The 90s was when production companies invested more heavily in VHS releases. In 86 back to the future cost nearly 240 adjusted for inflation.

Sure, video rental existed in 1980. Most families werent going to spend around $900 to own a VHS player (200-400 at the time according to Kodak). The 90s was when prices dropped enough for a large market to exist.

How much more independent is your life from a city dweller when you do still require thousands of people and multiple peaceful, functioning governments in order to "live alone" in a rural area? Not much. The only real difference between you and someone in an apartment is a couple of repairmen.

You dont have a job that depends on a boss or customers? You dont rely on gas created in multiple other countries or food grown in places other than Kentucky driven to markets by Trucks and trains? Hell, good luck getting any kind of specialty care from doctors in rural kentucky.
