getting into modding is the best thing Ive ever done. its insane how much joy Im getting from pulling pokémon red apart and seeing how it's built. the fact that i can slap a breakpoint in it and step through it line by line is giving me a new lease on life. i should have done thing fucking years ago

ok i managed to tweak some code from a tutorial and get it to display O as well. now we have P for physical, S for special, and O for status (aka other). this is gonna be hella useful for when i implement the physical / special split, and also build a ton of custom moves into the game as well.

my first Real Change in a romhack. everything else has been just following tutorials or swapping input variables, but putting the P or S (phys or special) in the popup box is the first thing that i had to actually write custom assembly code for

the thing is, I've never even seen anything else with the muppets in it. the christmas carol is my only frame of reference for any of those characters and i have no idea what any of the non-dickens version of those puppets are even like. yet i still love the muppets christmas carol
the dee dee version of a christmas carol from limmys show is my second favourite adaptation of it ever, and the only reason it's not first is because the muppets exist
