Average of $9.3B per year since 1983 doesn’t seem that much when you consider the size of the country however when you look at the trends it’s quite alarming when you realize that a good portion of the losses were recent and it will only get worse

Not only will this movie convince you to buy a leather jacket and a tobacco pipe, it will also teach you new vocabulary!

Film #22 of #Noirvember was such a treat! 🎬

Was the first time watching NACHTS AUF DEN STRASSEN (1952), a rarely seen German #FilmNoir staring Hans Albers and the wonderful Hildegard Knef, who starred in a film I was recently introduced to via #NoirAlley, THE MURDERERS ARE AMONG US (1946)

Made a typo on the last post so this is actually #21 of #Noirvember. I broke my marathon of foreign noirs since i watched THE KILLING (1957) with #FilmNoirClub but now we will be back to our regular scheduled programming 🎬

Trivia: The two lead actors, Rŷo Ikebe and Mariko Kaga had a 25 year age gap between them. She would have been only 19-20 years old when the film was made

Favourite quote: “What on earth is this? Why so many people crammed into a cage-like box? People. They are such strange animals. What are they living for? Their faces are life-less. They desperately pretend to be alive.”

I’ve been fascinated with movies that feature stories about yakuza ever since I saw Ridley Scott’s BLACK RAIN (1989) so it’s no surprise that #Noirvember film #29 PALE FLOWER (1964) is one of my favourite movies

Do NOT buy this Vigilante Pulp Crime Anthology. The Editor and Publisher Philip “Big Philly” Smith is a P.O.S. racist

For #Noirvember movie #19 i re-watched Kurosawa’s HIGH AND LOW (1963) based on the novel KING’S RANSOM by Ed McBain via #NoirAlley on #TCM. At the time this film wasn’t as well received in the U.S. as it was in Japan, however it has since been recognized as one of the best film noirs of all time

The next few #Noirvember films are from Japan and I’ve been looking forward to watching these since they are among my favourite noirs of all time. Starting with I AM WAITING (1957) for movie #18

Saw that Alfred Hitchcock’s SHADOW OF A DOUBT (1943) was rated G so i decided to watch it with my nieces for #Noirvember movie #17

For #16 we have a newer film for #Noirvember. From Bong Joon Ho who brought us PARASITE, THE HOST, MICKEY 17 etc.. via the Criterion Collection, we saw MEMORIES OF MURDER (2003) a funny neo-noir, (and its not a parody which is rare)
