It has allowed students dealing with trauma or life needs to be upfront with themselves (and me) about how they have met the course goals. Side note: I've had far fewer plagiarism cases and LLM papers than my colleagues. Less pressure to do "something" to get a grade.

I have shifted to ungrading in most of my courses. Students actually get more feedback, less stress, and focus more on learning instead of grades. It also allows for students to "skip" any assignment, while addressing if they met outcomes.
