It's a nice way of saying, "It's really gonna suck for a bit; hope you have winter tires."

It's currently snowing heavily here, on top of flash-frozen slush leftover from rain yesterday. Lovely...

Probably the moment I realized Rise was going to undo a lot of Last Jedi was when the helmet is remade. It felt like JJ really rejecting the character arc presented.

And here I thought he couldn't surprise me anymore....

Thought: the same people who asking random strangers for recipes, charities, etc. instead of googling themselves are the same people who love ChatGPT, etc., because it happily gives them an answer.

Probably works the other way too, where chatbots create unrealistic expectations of humans online.

The Sandfall folks are all dressed in the Baguette costume. It's delightful!

It's more about personal preference than anything. I prefer dot grid, because it provides subtle guides to keep my writing straight, without being visually distracting. Classic grid can also work for me, but only if the grid is lightly printed.

I regret to inform you that, at least on the preventable diseases thing, Canada lost its official measles-free status at the end of November.

We've got our own anti-vax movement here. It's just less loud about it.

Snort. Poor babies.

I'm paying $5117 (CAD) for a little one-and-a-half storey house. Probably worth $400kish with the work I put in.

Feeling particularly salty about this right now, because my property taxes went up $200/mth for next year, but city council is voting on another boundary expansion.
December 6, 2025 at 5:49 PM
In my city, the NIMBYs stop the density, and then go onto complain when the expansion of city boundaries means higher taxes.

Like, duh? The "park" (empty lot) down the street already has road access, utilities, etc. If we sprawl, we add more infrastructure to maintain, which means taxes.

This happened to me too! Which was great for farming dragon bones, but it sure made a mess of the place.

I just poked Basil so that I could snap a pic for you, and this is the face he made.

Literally the only opinion I cared about knowing before checking the new show out was yours.

So I know what I'm watching this weekend!

As an asexual, it's particularly insulting to have my sexual orientation misused this way.

Asexuality isn't about whether a person is or isn't having sex (whether they want to or not), and to imply that perpetuates the myth.

The recipe stuff is extra annoying because it's literally faster to google* it yourself. Demanding it from a stranger on an asynchronous platform is least efficient way to go from "that looks tasty" to "eating tasty thing."

*Google does seem to be making this less true by the day, though.

It's called "progress." lol

Clearly, no one in analytics was consulted, because they would have told them the maths weren't mathing appropriately.

That's just mean of them.

Almost, but not quite burnt. If the peanut butter isn't edge to edge it's done wrong. I'm happy to have other things on toast, but PB will always be the winner.

It's a lovely, difficult essay. I can't imagine what it would be like to have an assumed piece of one's identity proven inaccurate like that. It says a lot about him as a person that he's willing to grapple with it publicly instead of hiding it for the sake of his career.

Well now I'm craving chili, and something something, price of beef, chili privilege, etc.
