HISTORIANS! do you manage to do your footnotes as you go? if so, what's the secret? I find it interrupts my flow so much...

I've been writing about Phyllis Schlafly and right-wing women vs Shere Hite and found this superb!

I'm hoping for some discussion of Schlafly's self-help book, 'the power of the positive woman' in part 2.

Out now!
In this book I explore struggles for reproductive rights & liberty in postwar France - telling a different story about the era of sexual liberalisation & legal reform, avoiding a celebratory narrative but looking at persisting injustices and inequalities.

I have an amazing osteo if you were looking for a recommendation! She is v knowledgeable about anatomy and trustworthy! She also studies the bible from a Christian, feminist perspective. So you can learn about maligned female saints while your back gets fixed 👌

2/2 Then, feminists focus on women's powerlessness has resulted in men now being more oppressed than women. imo he is key to manosphere idea that the world is now stacked in feminist and women's favour.

1/2 the trajectory was focus on 'sex roles.' In his first work Farrell discusses how male sex role oppresses women but men too pay a high price (true!) but later it becomes just 'sex role' focussed, men are as oppressed as women. memorably: 'women are sex objects, men success objects.' (!?)

from Warren Farrell's The Liberated Man (1974!!) Makes it even sadder and more disappointing that Farrell descends into men's rights activism...

amazing that the anti-sexist men's movement propose gender-neutral pronouns (te/tir) & attaché as alternative to husband/wife.

As someone who likes a smart briefcase I could get on board!

Thanks Amy. It will be available in Aus/UK soon too 🤞🏻! What did the book mean to you?
rosavcampbell.bsky.social
Yes! I really like what Sophie Smith says about forgotten women, that it’s not just a process of natural memory loss but always political.

Sexual violence has been both endemic and normalised within many British police forces — and sexual violence against girls from working class backgrounds has long been ignored by the wider British state. Sometimes the obvious answer is, in fact, the correct answer. Nobody cared about these girls.
