This feels like a good opportunity to reintroduce myself. I'm a microbiologist who has worked on antibiotic resistance and the gut microbiome. I've recently moved to @cruk-si.bsky.social on the beautiful Garscube campus. I'll be using my skills to study various aspects of bacterial cancer therapy!

Wonderful (and humble) essay on mentorship by Brandon Gaut, on occasion of Brandon receiving the inaugural Mentorship Award of @genetics-gsa.bsky.social. I hope this will be widely read!

Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored me to walk from Glasgow Green to Loch Lomond in the Kilt walk. My feet are only recovering now, but it was worth it to raise some money for CRUK.

As the resident microbiologist in the lab, I am investigating the adaptation of STm to the TME using transcriptomics, next gen sequencing, and molecular microbiology. I will also be drawing on my experience to expand our work on the interaction between the gut microbiome, BCT, and the immune system.

This work is done using a mixture of colon and small intestine organoid models and the excellent colorectal cancer mouse models available to us at @cruk-si.bsky.social.
