It’s a strange time to be an opera fan. Stunningly beautiful voices come from everywhere: Korea, Africa, Mexico, Poland; yet productions are distressingly abysmal. Directors fancy themselves the true artists, with great opera merely the canvas on which they daub their strokes of genius.

I like BlueSky, but my Discover feed is full of pictures of cats and the moon. I hope there’s a way to replace them with intelligent and humorous discussion.
