Ross-on-Wye Cider & Perry
@rosscider.bsky.social
Orchard-based cidery in Herefordshire UK, producing wild fermented cider and perry from our own orchards, and sold 5 minutes away in our pub, the Yew Tree Inn.
From this Thursday where Martin will host London Cider Clubs, to our Single Variety Symposium at the Yew Tree in late May. In micropubs, village halls, one Cidrothequé and even the Houses of Parliament, we're on a mission to spread the word of the apple to as many people as possible!

I was significantly more excited for this cider before a cataclysmic poonami that necessitated a bath, screaming, a change of clothes, an immediate wash cycle. But here we are. And actually, if anything, better for having been made to wait. These smooth tannins are glorious and rewarding.

This one was a treat tonight. Moved on a lot from when it was bottled last summer! Strawberry & rhubarb but with chalkiness and a touch of bitterness. We've made SR 3 times in my time. The first was naturally sweet, a unicorn. The second was far too bitter fruit, a bad year. This one is just right.

Here is my favourite people in front of my favourite tree. We pressed 120L from this tree this season. The tree, as far as I can find out, predates our family moving to the farm. That would mean it is most likely at least 100 years old. It's true name is lost, but I call it 'Freya's Fortune'!

Join us at the Yew Tree next Saturday night for our monthly Cider Club. This time Albert will be hosting a special tasting of the One Juice Project, 5.5 years on! This was a 2019 juice pressing that was shared and then individually fermented between 5 producers. Each cider was totally unique!

For 2025 I wanted to allow myself spontaneous, uncurated posting. I enjoyed shitposting about The Traitors and regret that it is over and that Alexander didn't win. Todays update for you is that this cider is seriously good. It tastes particularly good served at "Barn Temperature (February edition)"

Big happy birthday to the big fella. His best in 50 years, reckons Marco Silva. Could be.

A very very satisfying re-arrangement of the cider shop today. We are at a record 28 different single variety ciders!! In all we have 84 different ciders and perries just made by us, with another 35 made by guest producers.

Quick orchard walk to see what we've got ready to press next week after the storm. Porter's perfection getting close to ready. The rest of Northwood, as well as Ashton Brown Jersey, Gloucester Underwear and possibly Red Styre all good to go come Monday.
