Plus, anything with Paul Frees and June Foray together is bound to be good. They really lean into their characters here. I love the meta reference of Frees playing a literal human chameleon.

Her mother had her when she was 14 which means she was pregnant at 13. By a whole nasty behind adult man. That’s horrible. And learning about that as an adult could understandably mess with someone and their sense of self. There was a lot of stuff going on in her mind that we may never know.

I’ve often wondered how much of her…complicated, let’s say, attitude towards her background had to do with shame around the circumstances of her birth and childhood in addition to the ethnic issues.
