There is plenty of racism and authoritarianism in American history, no doubt, but what Trump is doing is unique. We've never had a strongman like this, who corrupts the entire government into a personal instrument and gives his supporters permission to commit libidinal violence in his name.

These goons are flabby weaklings and cowards, the loser servants of a loser president whose policy of domestic authoritarian 'raids' has been defeated at every turn by plucky, mobilized, civic-minded citizens who banded together to protect their neighbors.

This is, yet again, evidence that Putin exerts some kind of control over the Trump administration. There is no way around it.

These are hard and possibly rude questions to ask, but I thought the nyt had a reputation for being obnoxious about trans people.

I'm also curious as a listener why it's so important to get this care at a young age - it's worth exploring why it's so hard to wait til 19. I didn't transition until 26, most ppl don't get to transition before puberty. So why can't today's young ppl wait?

If there's anything missing, they could have gone more in-depth on the consequences of not getting transition care. The parents they're profiling clearly understand it, they're so motivated to get this care they are considering moving to another country to get it. Why?
