I guess the only difference I’m seeing is that in Dimitri’s solo ending it’s just “rules over fodlan” and in his paired endings it’s usually that he’s king of faerghus after his coronation and its rules over fodlan after that. whereas edelgard’s are consistent in mentioning—

—bite it becomes very interesting! but I think that direction of interesting for a biblical horror will turn off non-christian/some other raised-christian horror fans. i was raised catholic so im ok with lore and accurate depictions of horror in the bible bc there’s a lot of it.
Three and a half star review of the carpenter’s son (2025): so I think the problem with this movie is not that it’s boring, because it’s probably the most interesting and human depictions of the holy family to ponder that I recall seeing amongst all the biblical media depictions I have seen (so many sooooo many much of which are so soooo boring). but it’s going to be too scary, too seemingly sacrilegious for many christians (but tonally and thematically consistent with the horror found in the bible! soooo much horror in the bible, jesus’s abilities are frightening). and yet not scary enough, too christian for most horror fans. which begs the question of who is left to appreciate this movie because there’s a lot to appreciate. the most miraculous thing about it is how well you can see the characters and the landscape during the night scenes. performances are excellent. nic cage is nic caging but I expected that from him. anyways this movie is like the reverse vvitch but with a much less clear identity of itself. I enjoyed it but wish the horror elements had not all been sequestered to the end/revealed in the very excellent trailers that came out before hand. really good looking movie more, there are some frames im still thinking abt.

there was a point where i tried to conjure a sort of distant past-near past-present perspective by changing paragraph alignments with each time change but when i realized how messy it was gonna be and how this fic needed to be like 25k words i was like ok let's switch gears entirely lol
Enough time has passed, and so they will cut to the quick. Just after the war, this conversation would have been—had been—a great back and forth until Felix stormed off, resolution a few fuming, silent days away. The shouts are muffled, mottled, but loud enough to be heard past the sitting room, the bed room, and the wailing wind of the balcony outside of Dimitri’s personal chambers. Though it does not sound as though there’s been a fray between the posted kingsguard and the duke before the entry door swings open and slams into the wall, rattling what little in paintings and fine things Dimitri keeps. Closer now, closer again, the stop and start of stalking foot steps, likely taken aback by each new horror left in Dimitri’s wake. Scattered pages, rambling notes, broken inkwells, shattered crockery. Closer, a bedroom in disarray, curtains drawn against all light, save the open door to the balcony. Dimitri sits with his back to the stone parapet, curled in the old cloak he’d refused to burn after the war. How could he ever. How could he. Felix stands in the doorway, a shadow past the threshold daylight can reach inside. He is incandescent only in rage. “Everyone told me you were sick, boar,” Felix spits, quietly, coldly. “Why am I the last to know what that really means?” “Because you’ve always been too much of a crybaby to be of any use, any use at all,” is what Dimitri hears Glenn say. Then came the time where still between them was that great back and forth except now Felix, excruciated, would stay; resolution was hard fought. Then, there was just a regular back and forth, not at all a huge doing, before there was minimal back and forth. And now, they anticipate the others' moves so entirely—like dancing, and sometimes, Felix's least favorite kind of sparring—that the conversation is quite short.
