Sounds like a good talk. I like your ideas.
10/ by folding them into the new Framework.

This new Framework idea gets the information benefit of "free college" programs -- good price information in the hands of low income families -- while making college more affordable (lowering the net price) for low AND middle-income families.

Suppose you have a kid about to graduate college. She would make a fantastic English professor if the field were still hiring, but it isn't, and likely won't be. What would you advise her to do? www.insidehighered.com/opinion/colu...
Advising The Girl
In good conscience, I can’t recommend she pursue a career teaching literature, at which she would excel.

I can’t tell from this if it applies to CCs or not
Yes, that sound you just heard was every institutional research person freaking out about their workload.

Since NYT spends 99% of the time talking about elite colleges, its worth highlighting when they put out a great piece on community colleges.

CCs are already under resourced, and the trump cuts to higher ed will limit opportunities for social mobility thru these institutions

My granddaughter is in UK for her BA . Big difference is all courses in major. Left out are most of what we would call gen education credits. Do we want this? Seems to be mostly a problem with science majors and preprof. Seems like 3 year degree easier in humanities?
A growing number of colleges now offer 90-credit bachelor's degrees instead of the traditional 120 credits after accreditors started giving the green light. It's unclear how employers and grad schools will view these degrees, or if labor market outcomes differ. Keep an eye on this.
Colleges, Accreditors and States Embrace 3-Year Degrees
Colleges from Utah to Indiana and Maine are on track to offer three-year degrees in the near future. But the hesitations that have long plagued the movement haven’t disappeared.

Long but stimulating
I'm trying to write some thoughtful things about what econ can and cannot help us understand about society so I'm excited to watch this
"We're in a world where it's basically 30 people who are in the same group chats who are responsible for a substantial amount of what happens in our economy & politics... Economics as a discipline leaves us very ill-equipped to have useful thoughts on this"
