Anyway, this is what we came for. I see phones aren't any better at capturing MBV at full volume. This is what it sounded like last time around: youtu.be/slrqvrDxAgQ?...

Had a fantastic weekend at Boundaries Fest in Sunderland, seeing amazing musicians right up close. Now here I am at an enormo-gig. Do people actually enjoy these things?

Every band that Mani played with was much better when he was in them. Some bass players have just got it. RIP Mani.

Yes, it really helps, but knowing the curfew (so you can get the train home) and sensible bar prices (looking at you, O2 venues) are more important.

Only 1 day left for this fantastic project to own grassroots venues and keep them open for everyone too enjoy.

Totally agree with the tone of this article - AI is just copyright theft so can't be compared to working artists.

Wow! Just discovered a high-quality recording of Kraftwerk performing Autobahn live on the Midnight Special in 1975. Watch it here

Emerging acts playing first-on and support slots get their early live crowd experience, develop stage craft and connection. They often help create the local buzz that enables promoters to sell national tours. They’re part of the pipeline from grassroots venues to arenas.

Happy birthday to Steve Cropper. Here's a fantastically cool clip of Booker T. & the M.G.'s performing Time Is Tight at Stax Studios. It's taken from a French mini-documentary from 1969, which also features Isaac Hayes, the Memphis Horns etc. Watch it at 📺▶️ youtu.be/ste1KIwjbLE

I think The Beta Band would have been much better if they'd done some practice.

I hope @academymusicgroup.bsky.social are pleased with their abysmal app that you have no choice but to use when going to one of their venues. Next time I'm buying tickets I'm not going to the Apollo.

Listening to lots of Beta Band before tomorrow's show. I don't care what anyone says, the Beta Band Rap is great. This one's for Scotland man, Scotland.

Top marks to Sheffield, where grassroots venues are standing together. This right here is what community looks like.

The new Sheffield Independent Venues Alliance (SIVA) is a brilliant move - putting collaboration at the heart of the city’s music scene.

Nice trip down memory lane and interesting to see that London bands didn't have it all their own way. At the time we thought the press looked down their noses at us because we were northern, but maybe they did that to everyone.

Late 90s PC speakers? I probably would have been playing NoMeansNo or Shellac. Or more likely, the Beachbuggy classic Unsafe at Any Speed.
What song coming out of these?
