This is the ongoing thread for books I've read in 2025 that you might like. I will do my best to include content notes (CN) where/as I remember/notice them, but they may be incomplete. As always, DM/email me if you want to know more.
I know a lot of it was written earlier in the series, but it's been interesting to read a lot of Shawn/Lassiter, and then get to later seasons and see what they're each like in in serious relationships.

I keep thinking I haven't done anything today, but I have done my PT exercises on schedule, read a third of a book club book, and done some cleaning up in my house. Also, I'm off work on holiday time, so I don't actually have to do anything.

My family did combined Hanukkah/birthday lunch and visiting today, which was really great. I've been singing the blessings over the candles along with YouTube videos every night, so even though I'm not sure I have the Hanukkah melodies memorized completely, my family said I did a good job.

It happened to me: I was looking forward to reading more of a fic over lunch to find out what happened, and then I realized it was something I had been writing in my head.

I've been watching Psych on Peacock, which means I'm seeing TV ads for the first time in a long time. I'm really stuck on the fact that "situationship" is an apparently common/neutral enough term to be in a Walmart commercial.

Bad movies friend and I watched Naughty or Nice last night, which wasn't that bad! It's a mostly fun Christmas movie that's not a rom-com. The timeline doesn't make any sense, but it actually has a coherent plot, which isn't true of many of the things we watch.

Happy Thanksgiving beloved friends! I spent most of the day with my family, and my brother helped out with a lot of the cooking. We cooperatively did potato taquitos and refried beans with apple cake for dessert, and my mom made roasted veggies (squash, beets, and parsnips). Delicious!

I'm off work for the rest of the week. \o/ I was the only one in my office today and got a bunch of little stuff done. I have thought it's Friday all day since I won't be back in the office until Monday.

Oh no, I kind of hate to be this person, but I've been watching Psych and while Shawn and Gus are obviously eternal soulmates, I very much get why people are into Shawn/Lassiter. (On the other hand, platonic soulmates + one of them is partnered is very much my jam so this might just be who I am.)

Ankle recovery update: the PA at the ortho clinic was very reassuringly calm about it. I can keep walking in the boot, and they gave me an ankle brace for when I'm ready for that. (And "ready" is up to me and how it feels.)

Ankle recovery update: I left work early because I was done and came home and napped for a bit. My parents came over this evening and did some chores for me, including my laundry. I have paid for Instacart+ since I will be Instacarting many things for at least a couple of months.

What are your best suggestions for vegan or easily veganizable meals that require little to no preparation? (I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to eat while I'm not particularly mobile.)

I fell while walking this morning (catching the edge of the asphalt in a part of my street that doesn't have sidewalks) and twisted my ankle. I'm glad I went to urgent care because it turns out I managed to fracture the lateral malleolus. They gave me a boot and a referral.

By the way, I have spent all day thinking that there needs to be more fic featuring fleshlights and then cracking up about it. (But, really, if I were a BNF, I would be running some sort of challenge about it. And insisting on a canonical tag.)

Have you ever heard the phrase "alfresco doors"? I am running into it in a piece of fic and I can't tell if this author is doing something weird or if it's a regionalism or translation from another language. They appear to just be regular sliding doors onto a patio.

My boss who was on leave all summer came back briefly and then resigned. Given our hiring timelines, I'm going to be doing at least half of that job at least through the end of the year.
