I'm reading over some of court materials from the Srebrenica Genocide and tribunals at present in preparation for our event tomorrow.

And in doing so I am in awe, once again, of our affiliate artist and forensic scientist Robert McNeil and the work of @rssba.bsky.social in facing the atrocities.

Genocide denial is often called the final stage of genocide. The Bosnian genocide is one of the most documented and forensically proven genocides in history, yet denial continues. Help us combat it by spreading awareness in your community. #GenocideAwareness

Nearly 1,000 victims were uncovered in Prijedor in 2013, 17 years after the war. Over 3,000 were murdered in the region. Many Bosnian Muslims still wait to find their loved ones. #WeRemember #NeverForget #Prijedor

#WhiteArmbandDay: In May 1992, Serb forces in Prijedor forced Bosniak and Croat civilians to wear white armbands and mark their homes. They were identified, targeted, and sent to camps or killed. This was the beginning of ethnic cleansing. #WeRemember

Elvira Mujkanovic lived in Trnopolje when the Bosnian Serb Army turned her entire village into an interrogation camp.
Elvira’s story inspired Robert McNeil, our Chair, to paint this picture. Elvira's now-husband was incarcerated in the infamous Omarska camp (shown in the background of the painting).

On May 31, 1992, all non-Serbs in the Prijedor area of Bosnia were instructed to wear white armbands and hang white sheets from their homes. Thousands of Muslims and Croats were forcibly arrested and taken to concentration camps where many suffered starvation, torture and death.

#OTD in 1992, Serb forces massacred at least 83 unarmed Bosniak civilians in Zaklopača, including 11 children and 16 elderly. The victims had no means of defence—making the atrocity even more harrowing. We remember them. #Zaklopaca
