BOSTON—Judge William G. Young of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts today ruled that the Trump administration’s policy of arresting, detaining, and deporting noncitizen students and faculty members for their pro-Palestinian advocacy violates the First Amendment.

We are saddened to share that Professor Robert Boikess has passed at 88. Bob joined Rutgers Chemistry in 1968 & the union in our first days in 1970. For over 50 years he was a member-leader & a steadfast voice for fairness, dignity, & the public good. We honor his memory & the solidarity he built.
