I have been happily enjoying obliviousness to many recent current events while visiting family for Thanksgiving but I hope everyone is aware of the wonderful news that the winner of the Purina 2025 National Dog Show Best In Show was the beautiful Belgian sheepdog, Soleil.

Ruled. Even more bonkers than the first. Had me hollering in the theater on multiple occasions. Totally ridiculous rage-powered mayhem.

This is terrifying and Bond-villain-esque and almost certainly going to happen. Worst case scenario, oops, Snowpiercer apocalypse. Best case scenario, that Futurama episode where Earth delays imminent climate catastrophe by regularly kicking the can down the road for future generations to cope with.

Couple of great ones around Denver but I would like to single out this beautiful absurdity.

Kind of an odd duck. Feels like elevated horror but with a Tales from the Crypt-ish story. Gorgeous with some supremely creepy visuals, too slow for me at times but with enough spookiness to nearly redeem that. The Blackcoat’s Daughter stays my favorite Osgood Perkins movie.

Anyway check out Sorry, Baby. It’s very good and also refreshingly, cathartically funny while relating to this topic.

Man. Massively fun yet falls maddeningly short of legendary potential. Story beats toward the end felt accordion-collapsed to fit a respectable action film length—I’d’ve been down for more! A mini series even! I wanna spend more time in this world with these characters! Oh well. It had me grinning.

Stealing a tweet here, but Reed Richards immediately after that press conference:

Beautiful historical slice of life movie! Loved how it captures the solipsism of early childhood, and how that slowly falls away as we learn to understand the people around us. The English dub I saw is entirely great. It was preceded by a lovely short, Éiru by Cartoon Saloon who can do no wrong.

Predator: Badlands RULES. A grandpa w his grandson kept yelling HELL YEAH throughout the movie. So much inventive action w great characters (Thia is the cutest synthetic in all of Weyland-Yutani.) And really not at all a bad film to take older kids to! And rad character animation, esp the yautjas.
