I like to talk about Japanese role playing games, magical girls, giant robots, tokusatsu, ducks and girls with big hats.
I considered getting a Switch 2 during Black Friday and then I saw the discounted price was still higher than the MSRP for the rest of Europe :)

Maybe one day we'll get a new distributor for the Nordics

It ended in a draw

Oh I didn't know about Versus Road's production issues but that makes sense given the timing. But yeah, Hagane does feel like it's made for people who've never watched Garo but if this was my first one it certainly wouldn't sell me on it

Not yet, I watched Re: Cutie Honey a few weeks ago as my first CH and I am going to watch more of them (including The Live) sometime next year when my group watch people feel like it.

It's arguably better than Versus Road but at least Versus Road was unique, and even if I didn't like its drama I was never bored with it. But Heir to Steel Armor just wasn't interesting.

But honestly the story itself wasn't particularly good either and the villain was really forgettable. There wasn't even any of the crazy action Garo is known for.

If this was a proper 24 episode series they could've had a lot more Horrors of the week that also develop the rest of the gang, but now they just exist and don't get to do anything.
December 14, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Like Soma has an entire gang of friends who don't do anything significant nor do they get any development throughout the series. There's two episodes with a Horror of the week and they feel really out of place because the rest of the show isn't episodic at all.
December 14, 2025 at 7:16 PM
It feels like it either should've been a movie that focuses only on Soma's arc or a 24 episode that greatly expands on all the stuff around Soma. Instead it's an awkwardly paced 12 episode series that tries to focus on things besides Soma but none of that leads anywhere.

Yeah, it's great and immediately tells the player this is a special encounter.

This is one of the most whimsical battle themes of all time, I love it. youtu.be/DTqq_iGvzlw?...

I haven't seen a single one in 25 hours of playing so I thought maybe 0 doesn't have any Caits but I finally encountered one and was very delighted they have the same unique battle theme they had in OT2.

Of course the Cait got the first turn and ran away immediately so I didn't get to hear it much.

I highly recommend it. It doesn't fix all of 1's problems but you can tell they listened to all the fan feedback for the first game because they addressed a lot of 1's flaws and improved on the concept tremendously.

That is definitely an issue in OT1 but I think in 2 the connections between the stories are much clearer, and the cross stories it had between chapters gave the characters the kind of development and interactions the first game sorely lacked.

It has a very different focus compared to the other two so I can't say which style I really prefer until I finish 0. But it has been very good so far
December 14, 2025 at 10:19 AM
You're welcome, I hope it keeps getting more attention since it is a really a big deal and it'd be a shame if it simply gets buried under all other game news.

I'll probably just go back to playing SNES and PS1 games again after I finish OT0 though.

Recommending 12 episode shows is my greatest weakness because most shows I like are much longer than that, but maybe try Re:Stage, I liked that quite a bit.
