personally i see erotica in a really positive light, as something that brings a lot of joy, both to consume and create. i understand how you feel, though! but the erotic needs to have a place in art; i don't want a world where that's not the case.

it really all depends on what we choose to do, rather than the art form of erotica itself. it really is just a genre of art. it can be used in many different ways; but it's not inherently harmful. it can be really healthy and helpful! it can bring joy, comfort, representation, and fun to people.

artists and writers of erotica can choose to express themselves however they like; there's so much more freedom there for unique expression. and often drawn and written stuff can directly counter the more negative effects and messages of mainstream porn.

people can have an unhealthy relationship with anything that might make them feel good, but that doesn't mean the thing itself is harmful. it's just human nature. porn isn't unique in that respect. and honestly i don't think people get that way about drawings and stories, on the whole.

expressing sexual desire through art, expressing the love of sex, the love of our fellow humans, this is far removed from the harms connected with mainstream porn. and if people have an unhealthy attachment to porn that's their own issue rather than an issue with erotica.
