Hello, lots of lovely new people here.
I'm Sarah, I do a few things

1. I make films. I'm currently making my first feature doc on Section 28 called Don't Say Gay at anthrobricolage.com
2. I write about how the world is designed and services as materials sarah-drummond.com/full-stack-s...

Anyone out there?

London is their office but I know teams work remote.

Drop me a DM - good to see roles opening up atm.

An ex snook (who I highly rate) works at an AI x Data company and is looking for 2 FT bid writers / biz dev people.

.. could have experience of building a team, and/or someone who wants to focus on managing and writing bids. But must have experience of winning in the private and public sector.

Yeh I thought of Halfords but - so out of central town!

Guess that’s a small cry for help. My pannier bag plastic lip broke off in transit

Decathlon style big 25L is what I’m after, nothing expensive or fancy to transport my stuff but all central London shops sell £££ pannier bags

Ideas? Thinking maybe Evan’s a shout as it’s on my route

Miss the old days of Argos, you know, the business model of real estate for their stock so you could get something immediately in person

Trying to buy an emergency basic 20/25L pannier rack in central London when I get off the train and options low

Argos model is now - get this tomorrow at 9am

Hey Nikola, just waiting for Dan (who's hiring) to post an overview to direct link to, but if you have a name to connect I can pair them and Dan up?

Asking for a friend - amazing social CIC doing good things in nature.

Looking for a South West (ideal) based fractional CTO who can also get their hands a bit dirty, and help a volunteer model of developing their platform

They have a backend dev, and hiring a front end.

Any ideas/connections?

About to hit the road on and off for London, Scotland, London and Scotland again for works

But had a real time at the farm of late.

What you don’t see if tears at a circular saw guide, relentless leaks ruining a new ceiling and overwhelm of the job at hand

But hey, we keep going

Thank you so much. It is a very long process... getting there!

nice, 'But that’s why functional completeness should never be confused with experience adequacy'

That companies get paid for delivering services that just doesn't work is criminal

If outsourced contracts had legals to include periodical service assessments with feedback taken on board they must fix, I'd be a happy service designer. These contracts often decades long, with 0 impetus to improve

Today's job > Watching back 2nd cut from editor

We've cut 10.5 hours to 6 hours
Now need to cut to 2.5/3 hours

Hardest job I've ever had to do
- Straddling macro and micro reflections/notes
- Trying to 'feel' my film without music/visuals that will go with interviews
- Loving every interviewee :(

Let it be known that I chose one local bike repair shop over another because one had an auto bot replier called 'Dave' where all avenues led to booking an appointment

The other picked up the phone and talked to me

Which one did I choose, you decide...

Spent this Monday starting the week talking about bathrooms, and taking photos of signs with @loudowne.bsky.social

This is my brain most of the times in bathrooms - who designed the service maintenance model, or did they?
theschoolofgood.bsky.social
What have bathrooms got to do with service design?

Author of Good Services Lou Downe, and our school director reflect on lessons in service design from bathrooms.

Whether it’s paracetamol or something else, Trump and co are perpetuating the idea autism is wrong and disability is an individual’s responsibility to avoid. It’s anti-science but it’s deeply ableist at its core. The goal is for non-disabled to be afraid and disabled people to be ashamed.

👀 for MHCLG but also the GDS accessibility team. Surely this constitutes as a public sector websites under the 2018 act..

who is looking out for/after these sort of clearly public sector websites but run by private sector?
rufflemuffin.bsky.social
Sure. But the details matter right?

If you can’t take the time to work out if your service is working before you launch it, you shouldn’t be running it

And that means sweating the details because this is what the user sees/is influenced by.

It’s the whole point of it all.
