PSS: That UofH movie channel was also how I saw “Spanking the Monkey”. Which was definitely a movie all right! It had some nice male butt shots, from what I remember. But at what price? Ha!
And it apparently isn’t streaming anywhere, legitimately.

Never saw that but adding it to my list. What a 2000s cast!

PS: Charles Durning & Austin Pendleton are both in this movie, tho they don’t share screen time. Not like when they were Doc Hopper and Max.

But I was acutely aware RDJ’s character was gay & that’s why I was really watching it, & he’s out & everyone kinda knows but that’s not what the movie is about, until it kinda is? Idk it was kinda confusing to deeply closeted li’l baby gay me but it was important representation & I was drawn to it.

So when I was going to University of Hartford they had a “cable channel” that would run a movie on repeat for a couple days, and that’s how I first saw this. Clare Danes is in it, though underutilized, and every young person loved her at the time so that was a draw.

I worried it would fall victim to mid-90s homophobia with some of the awful things oldest sister says to gay li’l bro but it sticks the landing, brings up gay marriage, and an important quick bit on queer found family.
