I guess it would be good to pay for access to the site for a day for the price of an old newspaper 'edition' and it be a one-off payment rather than a monthly subscription. But I get that could be admin-heavy.

It's a good point. I wouldn't mind paying for a single edition, though. It's the monthly subscription and endless emails that bother me. Before I know it, I'll be spending £100 a month in media subs.
