Last night was the first Magic event since the EoE prerelease where I didn't even hear anyone talking about anything but in-universe Magic and characters and it was SO nice. It felt like playing magic in the early 2010s again.

DKA was the first set released after I started playing, and I still remember the way I felt when I saw Lingering Souls for the first time. I spent months worth of FNMs completing a Japanese playset that remains one of my favorite parts of my collection. What a card.

They used to put this in precons, but I haven't seen anyone other than me cast one in ages. Even when this isn't 2-or-3-for-1-ing, its getting their hexproof/shroud/indestructible commander.
