It's like the devs knew the kids who played Superstar Saga have grown up and had written the story as a reflection of that.
The story was a shake-up the series desperately needed while still not sacrificing the goofy humor the series is known for.

Not to shit on the previous M&L games writing quality oh no they're great (except for Paper Jam 🫤), but Brothership is on a whole other level entirely like it isn't even close.
Actual character growth, themes that are part of the story and not just for aesthetics, high stakes that are earned, etc.
