among the reference images was this really beautiful photo that i won't link here, but if you look up "bullet ant" on britannica dot com, there is a photo of a winged virgin queen with just...the sparkliest shoujo protagonist eyeball. they took that ant to olan mills and got their moneys worth!!!!

i tend to think of my sketchbooks more as commonplace books than Art Receptacles, full of lists and notes in addition to thumbnails and studies and so on. thinking abt them this way has made me a lot less self-conscious about Wasting Paper With Bad Art*

im a MASSIVE doodler and have kept that kind of thing Just For Me for a really long time, but i love lumpy little drawings 😤 i think i also felt like my doodles weren't On Brand or what i wanted to market as part of my skillset or whatever but i have Ceased to care about that lmaooo
