One of my first teaching jobs went so far out of its way to make my cohort engage in neuro-normative icebreakers that they literally termed them "funcomfortable". My trauma brain was not having it, and I got even further ostracized from the group as a result of not participating!

If I was forced as a young child to spend 120 minutes every weekday reading texts that have no relevance to me, I would also hate reading. I specifically moved to early childhood education from elementary because of this. Standardized testing companies have destroyed teaching reading.
