I think a lot of small streamers getting hit with this are just not realizing how many ways they encourage their audience to give fake engagement. Twitch is probably doing something in the back-end right now that's making it hurt more but apps like Twitch Lurker should never be promoted to your chat

I don't need the ego boost of number go up and sitting in a room of asleep, afk, or 10 tab "viewers" actually makes me MORE insecure about whether or not I'm giving people a good time. If I'm not your focus tonight, that's okay!! Put your focus into the streamer you WANT to watch tonight instead!

Maybe it's just me but since everyone is talking about the lurker erasure on twitch rn:

Opening a ton of tabs to "support" your friends and favs kinda sucks. That's not watching and engaging with the content, that's manual viewbotting. Even if you lurk, I want people to actually WANT to watch me!!
